September Backpacking Trip
September 25, 2021 @ 8:00 am – September 26, 2021 @ 5:00 pm
Description:
Our first camping trip will be our yearly backpacking trip on Sat/Sun, September 25-26. If you’re attending, please RSVP on Scoutbook as soon as possible!
For anyone working on the Cooking merit badge, this is a great opportunity to work on your trail cooking requirement, part of which involves buying food for the trip.
If you don’t have a backpack, you can borrow one by reach out to Ryan D. or Brian Kohler.
Location:
The AT (Appalachian Trail) is divided into sections through PA. We will be hiking Section 3 which goes from Lehigh Gap to Rte 309. It has lots of scenic overlooks and is sometimes referred to as the Knife Edge or Bear Rocks or Bake Oven Knob section. This section is 13.3 miles. We’ll divide into experienced and novice crews, with the experienced crew hiking 8.5 miles on Saturday, and the novice crew hiking 3.5 miles on Saturday. Both crews will hike 5 miles on Sunday.
Arrival and Departure:
Plan on arriving at Supplee on the morning of the 25th with your gear. We will be arriving back at Supplee on Sunday at around 5:00 PM. More specific info on this will be announced soon.
Cost:
This trip will be $25 and is due on September 20, 2021, at 7:45 PM. If you have any questions regarding payment, please contact Mr. Rhodes, the troop treasurer.
Please bring the required permission slip (found on the event’s page in Scoutbook, at https://scoutbook.scouting.org/mobile/dashboard/calendar/event.asp?EventID=3852926) to Supplee.
