This fall, those of us who enjoy hiking will be loading up for a backpacking outing along the Appalachian Trail. This year we’ll trek between Eckville and Port Clinton, PA. The trip will cover nearly 15 miles; about nine miles on Saturday and six miles on Sunday. A novice crew will focus on training and learning. An experienced crew will be available. All Scouts on the experienced crew must have attended at least one backpacking activity.

Both groups will carry everything they need for the weekend on their backs, eat the same type of food, and camp overnight in the same style. It’s important to have the proper equipment for this outing, so please tell us by the September 16 meeting if you need to borrow a backpack from the Troop.

We depart at 7:30 am Saturday, September 21 and return late Sunday afternoon. The $20 cost is due at our September 16 meeting.
