In October, we will be tent camping at the Deer Wood Campground in the Tohickon Valley Park. For Saturday, we have contracted with Doylestown Rock Gym to provide staff and equipment for rock climbing at Ralph Stover State Park. As Ralph Stover is so close to Tohickon Valley Park, we can walk from our campsite to the climbing area. We will have 3 sessions of 12-15 boys each. While not climbing, our youngest Scouts will be working on advancement, i.e. passing requirements for Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class ranks as needed. Older scouts will be doing other activities, primarily games of one sort or another. The youngest Scouts will participate in the games as time allows. Patrols will be cooking their own meals, Sat breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as Sun breakfast. In the evening we’ll have a troop campfire and as weather permits, a night game.

As a reminder, this is a great opportunity for those working on First Class to complete their cooking requirements. Boys should talk with their Patrol Leaders to arrange for this opportunity. Each patrol will identify two Scouts to do all of the food handling for the weekend (purchasing the food and preparing the meals). Food buyers can pick up a check from the treasurer at the regular Monday Troop Meeting before we leave, October 18, 2021, and should also pick up their patrol coolers before they leave so that they can properly store food perishables.

Bring With You

(1) Troop Permission Slip – You will need to bring the permission form (Found on the bottom the event page in Scoutbook).

(2) COVID-19 Screening Form – As with all current Scouting events, all Adults and Scouts are required to provide a COVID-19 Screening Questionnaire and have their temperature taken during check-in for the event.

(3) Doylestown Rock Gym Waiver – All Adults and Scouts must have a signed waiver form in order to participate in rock climbing activities. The following links will take you to a page to either download a hard copy form or fill out an online version.
