Due to snowy weather, Troop 542’s January trip was rescheduled for February 12. Dubbed the “Fish and Ship” tour, the Scouts visited two destinations along the Camden, NJ waterfront. At the first stop, Scouts watched an immersive IMAX movie and toured the Battleship New Jersey, a historic battleship that served in World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, and Middle East conflicts, becoming the most decorated American battleship. Scouts learned about the battleship’s history and its connection to major events in American history.
After eating lunch on the battleship, the Scouts visited the Camden Aquarium, just a few minutes’ walk away. The troop split up into patrols so Scouts could see specific areas of interest, including Hippo Haven, Piranha Falls and the Shark Bridge. Despite the rescheduling, the first of Troop 542’s February trips went smoothly and allowed Scouts to learn about both American history and marine biology.
