On August 6th, 2017, the Boy Scouts of Troop 542 left for their annual trip to Resica Falls Scout Reservation in Resica Falls, PA. Resica Falls is an amazing opportunity for any scout to get ahead on merit badges and scout skills that they may not have an opportunity to earn at home, as well as having an amazing week full of fun and service projects to help the camp! Some of the activities that Scouts can experience at the camp are rifle shooting, archery, a ropes course and rock climbing wall, as well as a large swimming pool with a waterslide, and a large lake to practice boating, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing.

On Monday, the camp staff held their opening campfire with the theme of a quest for the golden coconut while on an island. On Tuesday, the main activity after merit badges was an outpost hike to Cool Dip, a swimming hole on the Bushkill Creek. After swimming, the Scouts cooked over open fires and enjoyed fellowship with other patrols. The next day, the Scouts helped the camp by building two signs to advertise Resica Falls Scout Reservation. As always, Thursday night brought a rousing troop campfire which was second to none! To close, on Friday, the camp held their closing awards ceremony where Troop 542 won the Unami Award, Troop Award, and the Eagle Patrol won the Patrol Award! By the end of the week, Scouts had completed many requirements for their next rank or merit badge which will be presented to them at the opening campfire on September 11.
